1.) Chiringuito Tropicana
Why: While you are in Málaga, you absolutely must go to one of the traditional Chiringuito’s. To be honest, they are all quite similar, with comparable prices. However, I recommend this one in particular for their shrimp seafood salad: with fresh shrimp, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and freshly squeezed lemon. It was just perfectly refreshing after a hot morning on the beach.
Price: 5€ for the seafood salad. About 10€ on average for full fish.
Find it: Playa Malagueta. If you’re on the beach, you’ll see it.
2.) Chiringuito Siesu
Why: Another Chiringuito, but I recommend this one for the wonderful service. The staff was so friendly, adorable and welcoming! And the fish griller (as seen above) was so excited to talk about what he does…gotta love a man with passion for his work. He even gave me some free squid! Oh yea.
Price: 5€ for the small plates. About 10€ on average for full fish.
Find it: Playa Malagueta
3) El Pimpi
Why: So I will warn you, it’s not the cheapest restaurant in Málaga. But it’s also not the most expensive, and the food/ambience is totally worth it. This restaurant is known as “classic Málaga,” where locals and tourists alike come to enjoy a beautiful, huge outdoor patio and baangin’ Spanish food. All of the jamón is cut right there. All of their wine is made in-house…yes, they have their own bodega. The service is awesome (I’m talking USA service status…not to mention all of the waiters are smokin’ hot 😉 ) If you are going to pick one night to do a nicer dinner out in Malága, this is your spot.
Price: 12€ per person
Find it: Calle Granada, 62
4.) Amorino Malaga
Why: Yes, that is an ice cream cone with 6 flavors. I am obsessed with this gelato shop. Why? Because you can pick LIMITLESS AMOUNTS OF FLAVORS. It is my dream come true, as I am extremely indecisive when it comes to picking flavors. How do you know if you are making the right decision? What if you decide you were actually in the mood for chocolate, but you ordered mint? Have no fear, Amorino is here. And, the size is regardless. You can order the smallest cone, and still pick as many flavors as your indecisive heart desires. OH. And I discovered it’s a Euro chain, originating in Italy. Normally I don’t like to write about chains, but this is so entirely deserving. New goal? To visit every Amorino in Europe…
Price: 1-3€
Find it: Calle Granada, 62
And for where to stay…
5.) Feels Hostels City Center
Why: Great location, great service, clean, funky, and free sangria every night.
Price: 17-25€ a night
Find it: Calle Concejal Agustín Moreno, 1
